fiction/mythology

........................
(first part of a trilogy)

In the time when magic ruled the earth and
mythological creatures freely roamed the lands, skies
and the seas, there lived two unique individuals,
whose eternal love for each other encompassed and
transcended all boundaries both physical and
metaphysical. whose lives were intertwined even before
the cosmos was created, destined to become as one.
this is the story of Hew and Aye.

It was said that Aye,an immortal, was a water god,
tasked to nourish the earth with revitilizing water.
Aye was a young god who possessed strong and
attractive qualities. Hew on the other hand, was a
sea-goat, an earth dwelling creature. Legend has it,
Hew possessed the most beautiful face in the whole of
the earth which was the reason why other creatures
envied Hew and most of other earth and air dwelling
creatures mortal or otherwise, as well as gods wooed
Hew.

Although Hew was courted by hordes of earth dwelling
and air dwelling creatures, Hew didn't found a single
one that would made her happy and contented. Somehow,
Hew felt like there was still something missing in her
heart. Her spark longed for someone she didn't have
any idea about. The same was true for Aye. Although he
didn't pay that much attention to his mundane life, he
felt that there was something in his life.

Both were into scrying, a method of communicating with
someone from another place provided that both have
their own scrying pool. Hew' purpose for her scrying
pool was to pester other mortals for she was known to
have this playful personality sometimes, her way of
venting off her angst. Aye's use of his crying pool
on the other hand, was to relax himself after doing
his task as a water god. Then one day, as Hew was
scrying her pool, she chanced upon Aye! As if the
fates dictated the events that transpired that day,
Aye was also scrying his pool!

Aye's scrying pool allowed him to show his face while
he was scrying. Hew's scrying pool on the hand, was
just limited to voices. Then it all happened on 27th
day of the tenth month. This was the first time Hew
saw Aye. They had casual conversation that day, but
what followed next was something both of them have
never expected to happen. The awakening of their spark
long dormant! Legend has it, all creatures mort have
their own spark but not all sparks are awaken easily.
Each spark have to find its own complementary spark in
order for the awakening to take place.

On the day the two first met, Hew's playful nature got
the better of her, she jokingly said to Aye when she
saw him for the first time, "Hail to thee!". Aye,
didn't mind what he heard, because he was skeptical at
first. Aye insisted that Hew show herself but she
lamented that her scrying pool doesn't allow her to be
seen by others but she can see them. This saddened Aye
but it didn't stopped him from finding out how Hew
looked like. Alas, with Aye's persistence, Aye was
able to see how Hew looked liked. The image of Hew
instantly smittened Aye! He fell in love at first
sight. Soon Hew and Aye were communicating constantly,
undermining the distance and time that separated them.
For Aye was a god dwelling in the heavens and Hew was
a beautiful sea-goat living on earth.

And the two got in touched with each other constantly,
and finally with Aye's persistence, Hew accepted Aye's
request to be his concubine. Though she knew that Aye
can't easily descend from the heavens and it would
take some time before he does, still she accepted his
request. So the two became a couple, a strange
relationship guided and governed them.

Both of them knew what was at stake, they knew what
they got into. A water god and a sea goat relationship
was not an easy one. Hew's close circle of friends
often discouraged her from continuing her relationship
with Aye, citing distance and unfamiliarity with each
other, not to mention the strange union of the two as
reasons. But because Hew loved Aye so much, and their
love for each other was so strong, it literally went
against the dictates of the Powers that Be.

Unbeknownst to Hew, Aye on his spare time consulted
the Oracle using his scrying pool. There the water god
stumbled upon the truth behind their relationship. Aye
knew about their repective Fate, Destiny and Karma.
The Oracle showed him a portent of things to come. The
Oracle told Aye that he can't descend to the earth
because he was a water god and Hew was a se goat.
Their relationship was forbidden let alone the union
of their sparks. For their union would sire an entity
that would corrupt Aye and his descension would put
his god status and immortality at risk. But Aye, known
for his stubborness, undermined the Oracle's warning.

True to his rebellious nature, Aye descended from the
heavens ahead of schedule. He was supposed to descend
two years after they first met, for that is the time
when gods were temporarily relieved of their duties
and were allowed to mingle with earth dwelling
creatures. And so Aye descended.

There was magic indeed when the two finally met in
person. The feeling was inexplicable for the both of
them. Even the heavens and the earth celebrated with
them or so it seemed... That very same day, Aye asked
Hew's hand in marriage. Because Hew and Aye were so in
loved with each other, the marriage took place. On the
night of their union, both of them felt strange. Then
they made love to each other.

At first, Aye remembered what the Oracle have told him
but due to Hew's beauty and charm that night, he let
go of his "godly" worries and made love to Hew. Their
union was the most electrifying and liberating
experience they've ever felt. Their sparks became one.
For the first time in their existence, they felt and
knew they're finally complete!

Just like the Oracle foretold, their union sired the
entity known as Dawt. While Hew and Aye were so
preoccupied recounting what just happened, Dawt,
oblivious to Aye, entered Aye's subconscious mind.

Aye stayed on earth and enjoyed his temporary stay for
the duration of his "rest period". When it was time
for him to ascend into the heavens, Hew asked him to
stay. She pleaded with him to relinquish his
immortality and his god status and live with her but
Aye said "No." "In time.." Aye said to Hew. As Aye
tried to ascend, he failed because the night their
sparks became as one, Aye lost his god status and with
it his immortality.

Aye was forced to live on earth but he didn't regret
living on it for he was happy. Nothing pleased him
more than waking up everymorning in Hew's arms.
Together the two lived a simple life free of worries.
All they cared about was they have each other and that
was all that mattered to them.

As Aye enjoyed living on earth, he had no idea that
Dawt, the evil entity sired by the union of Hew and
Aye's sparks, started corrupting his spark. Hew
although already married to Aye, still possessed the
most beautiful face in the whole of the earth. Hordes
of earth dwelling creatures continued to admire her,
giving her gifts and offerings. At first, it was
alright with Aye for he knew that Hew love him so
much. That eventhough Hew was always wooed by hordes
of earth dwelling creatures, Aye knew that he was
still the sole owner of Hew's love. Then as days went
by, Dawt's control over Aye's spark got stronger and
stronger. Then finally it took control of Aye
completely. Hew's spark on the other hand, remained
pure and uncorrupted for she still had control over
her spark. She knew who she really loves, who she
desires, who she wants and who she needs. It was Aye.

One day, Aye saw Hew talking to another male earth
dwelling creature. Under normal circumstance, the
scene was just an ordinary one considering Hew's
beauty and charm. But what Aye saw that day drove him
into madness. Envy consumed his spark, it clouded his
judgement. it infuriated him. He lost his sanity and
followed Dawt's command. He slew the creature to whom
Hew was talking to. Then Aye grabbed Hew by the hair
and dragged her back to their abode.

Hew cried, pleaded but Aye didn't heard for he was
completely under Dawt's command. Aye struck Hew in
every part of her body in ways unimaginable. Hew bled
but Aye didn't stop what he was doing. Finally,
insanity consumed Aye's spark, in a desperate act of
preventing other creatures to admire and fall in love
with Hew, Aye killed Hew and along with her, her
spark. When Hew's spark died, it triggered a chain
reaction. Since their spark were not as one anymore,
Dawt died as well for Dawt was sired by the union of
Hew and Aye's sparks.

Upon the death of Dawt, Aye regained sanity. Aye saw
Hew lying on the floor immersed in her pool of blood.
Aye saw his hands red with blood, his garments stained
by it. Aye wept, but it was too late. Hew was already
dead. The portents shown to him by the Oracle came
back to him. He knew that this would happen the moment
he descended from the heavens, he knew that the union
of their sparks would sire Dawt, he knew about their
fate, destiny and karma. But he undermined everything
he learned. He knew that in order to make things
right, he had to die as well in order for their sparks
to reincarnate in the next lifetime and hope that
their spark would find each other and become as one
again. So without hesitation, Aye killed himself...
